Step 6 of the six steps in launching a seeker small group from Garry's book, Seeker Small Groups, and his training, is "Maximizing the Impact." When you gather a group of spiritual seekers together in a small group, there are countless opportunities to build community where people feel safe and receive care from you and each other. There is a popular website that has emerged in recent years that enables you to easily care for someone in crisis: www.carepages.com.
What is a CarePage? A CarePage is a free personal Web page that connects families, friends, church groups, and well wishers around a person coping with illness. CarePages makes communication easy:
•Families send updates to everyone at once
•Visitors offer emotional support and prayers
•A commmunity of support and goodwill grows
•Your seeker small group community can be "there" for someone
Recently a good friend of mine's daughter was diagnosed with aplastic anemia. Another good friend immediately set up a Care Page for Anne enabling the family to give regular updates efficiently and well wishers were able to post messages in their "guest book". Each time there was a new posting with information concerning Anne's condition, each person on the mailing list received a notice that there was an update, much like what should be happening with this Blog.
Check out carepage.com to learn more about how this could be part of your toolkit as a seeker small group leader this year. I hope you are enjoying these warm, relaxing summer days! - Mary
